Teacher Edition: Better reporting & Pricing update

First, I’m going to talk about a new product feature: better reporting. Then, I’m going to tell you about an upcoming pricing change for the Teacher Edition of Spelling Test Buddy.

Product feature: Better Reporting

With weekly-ish word lists, you want to understand both what your students know coming into the week, how they are progressing, and what they’ve learned by the end. Spaced repetition is one of the best ways to improve recall and build the neural pathways for both spelling and reading, and the pattern of pre-test, practice, and final-test is a wonderful structured method to provide spaced repetition.

But without a way to monitor how your students are progressing, it is difficult to know where to focus your efforts. Which phoneme are they struggling with? Are there specific words that they are having trouble with? Etc.

This is where the new reporting feature of Spelling Test Buddy shines.

Previously, when you opened the Reports tab of Spelling Test Buddy, you were only able to see the last test that your students took.

Now, when you are in the Reports grid…

… you can tap into you can now see the results of every test that your students took on that word list:

In this example, our student took the pre-test and spelled 6/9 words correctly. She practiced again on Tuesday and spelled 8 words correctly. On the final test on Thursday, she spelled all 9 words correctly!

This helps you understand exactly how your students are progressing through pre-test, practice, and final tests for each of your weekly word lists.

Pricing update coming

After over a year of development, it's time to set a price for Spelling Test Buddy. I've talked to several teachers to get their input, and compared other options available.

I want to continue to offer a free version, and will do so for those with limited use cases or who are looking to just try Spelling Test Buddy out. The free version's features will mirror the parent version I offer today.

The Teacher version of Spelling Test Buddy will cost $29.99/year (and less if you live outside of North America, Europe, or Australia/New Zealand). It is meant for teachers who wish to sign up on their own.

The School version of Spelling Test Buddy will cost $299/year. It is meant for schools that wish to use Spelling Test Buddy across all of their classrooms and grades, and wish to centralize management and billing.

If a teacher purchases Spelling Test Buddy but then their school adopts it, the unused amount will be pro-rated refunded them back for the rest of the year.
